Ethical Standards of Practice
It is a core belief of the TRC, that testing companies and mitigation companies should be separate, to ensure ethical practice and individual expertise in their respective areas.
- Radon Mitigation Companies shall only install mitigation systems, and should use a third party testing company to ensure the system is eliminating the amount of radon in each residence / commercial property.
- Radon Testing Companies shall only test residences / commercial properties using the correct equipment for evidence of radon. If high levels (above 4.0 pCi/L) is present, a third party mitigation company should be used to install a system.
- Mitigation and Testing Companies should never be owned by the same establishment as the goal of TNRC is to protect the consumer. We feel that doing both the testing and the remediation is a conflict of interest.
